Reporting CJD

Healthcare providers are required to report all confirmed or suspected cases of human transmissible spongiform encephalopathy (TSE), including CJD, to the Minnesota Department of Health.

Autopsy coordination

  • National Prion Disease Pathology Surveillance Center
    An autopsy is the only way to confirm the diagnosis of CJD and to determine the type of CJD. The National Prion Disease Pathology Surveillance Center may be available to coordinate autopsies free of charge.
